Serving post-exilic Israel, Malachi calls for repentance. He condemns various sins, including divorce, impure sacrifices, withholding tithes, and profaning God’s name. The Old Testament concludes with Malachi’s description of the Day of the Lord and the promise of Elijah’s return before that day.
