Living during Babylon’s invasion of Judah, Jeremiah prophesies Babylon’s victory, a message that brings him conflict with Jerusalem’s proud kings and false prophets. He persistently urges repentance but faces regular disregard and persecution. Through Jeremiah, God promises a new covenant with Israel. Jeremiah witnesses Jerusalem’s fall and predicts a 70-year Babylonian captivity for the people.
