Wednesday Wallpaper: The True Treasure of the Church

by Jacob Abshire on October 29, 2014

The gospel is the true treasure of the church. Opposing the theology behind the Roman Catholic Church’s sale of indulgences (a form of treasure to be purchased from the church to appease God’s wrath and receive salvation), Martin Luther argued that salvation was through faith alone in Christ alone by grace alone. This truth is the treasure of the church, not indulgences. And, it is to be freely given through the proclamation of God’s gospel of repentance.

Taken from #62 of his 95 Theses, this wallpaper design reminds us that the true treasure of the church is the gospel of Jesus Christ.

“The true treasure of the church is the Holy gospel of the glory and the grace of God.”

Martin Luther, The 95 Theses, #62
