In Psalm 139, David expresses his amazement at the infinite mind of God compared to the limited mind of man. The vast extent of God’s thoughts are beyond the grains of sand on the earth. It is hopeless to count them. To attempt would put you to sleep. (Adapted from John MacArthur Study Bible and ESV Study Bible)
How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you.
