Wednesday Wallpaper: My Conscience is Captive

by Jacob Abshire on October 30, 2013

Celebrate Reformation Day with this week’s wallpapers. In 1521, young Martin Luther was called before Holy Roman Emperor Charles V at the Diet of Worms to recant his religious convictions. However, Luther did no such thing. Here is a sample of his response:

Unless I am convinced by Scripture and plain reason—I do not accept the authority of the popes and councils, for they have contradicted each other—my conscience is captive to the Word of God. I cannot and I will not recant anything, for to go against conscience is neither right nor safe. God help me. Amen.

These wallpapers are designed to stimulate godly meditations. To participate, send your favorite quote or scripture to [email protected] and maybe it will be selected as the next design.
