Gratitude flows from remembering God’s work in others. In 1 Thessalonians 1:2–3, Paul begins his letter by giving thanks to God for the Thessalonian believers. He remembers their “work of faith,” “labor of love,” and “steadfastness of hope”—a triad that reflects true spiritual life. This kind of remembrance should shape our prayers too. As we reflect on God’s grace in the lives of others, we’re drawn to give thanks and encouraged to endure. Let this verse remind you to give thanks to God for those growing in faith, loving well, and holding fast to hope.
We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers, remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
