There is no shortage of books today. No end to the wisdom. No limit to the opinions. They stir emotion, shape opinions, and argue points. There is an endless supply of ideas available to us today. But none of these resources contains the power of God. The Bible describes itself as a living word of God, empowered by His Spirit, and effective in all that God intends it to be.
In this three-part series, we will explore the unique power of Scripture. First, we will see that the Bible is alive, meaning that it actively produces lasting transformation. Then, we will learn that the Bible is empowered, like an instrument wielded by the Spirit of God with accurate precision and strength. Finally, we will find that the Bible is effective, always accomplishing its divine purpose.
We turn to the Bible because it is uniquely able to do what the Lord, the author of the Bible, intended. It has power—the power to save and to sanctify. It is what we need today, tomorrow, and for all eternity. As you work through these articles, I hope that your affection for God’s Word will increase so that it is more treasured than any other book, and that you find confidence in spending time with it.
