Description

“It’s all about Jesus.” The phrase may sound like a Christian cliché, but Scripture affirms it as profound truth. Paul declared, “For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him” (Col. 1:16). Everything—without exception—exists because of Christ and for His glory.

Jesus Himself made this clear. When confronting the religious teachers of His day, He said, “You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me” (Jn. 5:39). After His resurrection, Luke records that Jesus “interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself,” walking two disciples through the entire Old Testament—from Moses to Malachi (Lk. 24:27). All creation points to Him. All Scripture testifies of Him.

Nowhere is this more evident than in the book of Hebrews. From its opening verse to its final benediction, Hebrews magnifies the absolute supremacy of Christ over everything that preceded Him—the prophets, the angels, Moses, the priesthood, the sacrificial system. It reads like a masterful exposition of all Scripture, revealing how every thread of God’s redemptive plan finds its fulfillment in Jesus.

In this study guide, we move sequentially through the entire book of Hebrews, touching on critical passages in order to grasp the superiority of Christ as the author portrays Him. The lessons are based on sermons preached by Nathan Lino and originally written for the church’s adult small group ministries. It was co-authored Katie Van DykeLaura Jackson, and Jacob Abshire
