2 Samuel

by Jacob Abshire on December 13, 2023

David is crowned king in Judah, with Hebron as the capital. Following internal conflict, all Israelite tribes unite under David, moving the capital to Jerusalem. God promises David’s lineage eternal kingship. David achieves victories but sins with adultery and murder. God’s judgment brings turmoil to David’s family, including his daughter’s rape and Absalom’s rebellion. David flees Jerusalem, but Absalom is later killed in battle. David returns, grieving. In his later years, David’s census incurs God’s wrath, resulting in national punishment.
