The Christian life is not only rooted in Christ—it overflows with gratitude. In Colossians 2:6-7, Paul urges believers to continue walking in Christ just as they received Him: by faith, firmly grounded, and continually growing. But he doesn’t stop at faith—he adds “abounding in thanksgiving.” Gratitude is not optional; it is the fruit of a heart established in grace. As we grow in Christ, thankfulness should overflow from our lives like a fountain that never runs dry. Let this verse remind you that maturity in Christ is always marked by joyful, overflowing gratitude.
Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
